Default Overheating at idle, z6 Hatch.

Coolant level is good, "burped" cooling system, direct wired fan (still good), checked relays, & fuses & both are fine. Thermostat is fine, & I feel like the water pump is fine. I notice when I drive my temp stays at like 1/3rd. & when at idle, it shoots up to almost the maximum after about 10 minutes at 700 RPM. Fan doesn't turn on, trying to figure out why..

There's a sensor on your thermostat housing. Remove the connector and jump it. If the fan comes on, replace the sensor

"you feel like the water pump is fine"??? whats that mean?

the sensor is the coolant temp sensor i believe..

as in "burping" the system did you jus leave the cap off and run it til it sucked down the coolant and filled it? or did you properly bleed the system?

To test your water pump. Grip the upper radiator hose and rev the engine. The hose should feel like water is flowing through it.

It is the radiator fan. Your car over heats at idle since there is no air passing through the radiator to cool the fluid in the radiator. While driving, the wind passes through, cooling it. Fan switch on the thermostat housing may be bad. Check fuses. For now, you may want to jump that circuit using a paper clip or some wire.

find the fan switch clip on the harness. Remove it. Stick a paper clip on the clip as if completing the circuit. Google this.

The reason I feel the water pump is fine is because if it wasnt working, wouldn't the car overheat within a matter of seconds? & I just replaced the fan cause it was bad, but it's still not turning on. Switched relays & tested fuses, all checked out good. I'm gonna try & test the water pump with JDMswagserf's method & I'll get back to you guys. I'm also gonna check the fan switch too.

I felt coolant flow thru the upper hose, so pump is fine. I jumped some kind of sensor clip going to the top of the thermostat. It just made a relay click, no fan action even with it jumped. Ideas anyone?
