Default AEM EMS + techedge DIY wideband = Autotune!

I got the my wideband o2 connected to the o2 input on the AEM EMS last nite, and at lunch i got the automapping feature working. set part throttle a/f target to 14.7 and drive! bam! instantly corrects the fuel map to hit the target air/fuel ratio.

set the target af ratio for WOT/boost to 12:1 and drive...(make sure your base map is like 10:1 or worse and it will lean it out for you).

its beautiful. simply beautiful. car is smooth like stock and the fuel gauge doesnt move when you step on it anymore!

Heh...I've been busy converting my calibrations and checking out the new functionality. I won't get to play with it until I put the motor back in

my car is running a heck of a lot better with a fresh 0.89 base map than my .73 heavily modded map ever did. didnt bother to convert.

I don't have EMS yet, but what I understand is you can tune it yourself using a laptop for street tuning. Not sure about tuning ease compared to hondata and or your OBD0 Q.

Im thinking about AEM EMS now, if you say its that easy.

AEM EMS is a LOT more complex to configure and tune than Hondata. thats why it has so many more features. thats also why its easy to F up your motor.

some people have problems with making the EMS read the correct voltage out of the wideband kit. i think the issue is all in the signal grounding. its kinda tricky. solder every connection, and be aware of where you ground the wideband. (sorry i cant be more specific). the Supra guys are having serious problems with this.

just so you know its not all just turn it on and off you go...you have to properly configure automapping to work (just with anything else in the EMS and for the most part its NOT straightforward or intuitive). it took me a while to figure out how to make it work and i've got a lot of other subsystems to figure out. but once its dialed in, it works as advertized.

but today is the 1st day that i actually know the AEM EMS was exactly what i was looking for.

Are you using the TechEdge box? Which sensor did you go with? or FJO?

Damn, how hard was it gettting the EMS plugged in and the car to start and idle normal?...... when I go standalone I really have to weigh the option of hondata vs ems...... I already have the tech-edge wideband o2 installed, god its beautiful It sits right under my totally useless Autometer A/F gauge LOL!!!

by configuring the automapping, you mean entering in a set amount of values, like temp, length of time, speed etc.
Where can i go to find out more about the ems. I mean if u can just enter in where u you would want your air/fuel to be and go drive off and do it, that just seems too easy. It has to be more behind it.
