How many miles do you have on your R? Do you have any tranny mods? (JDM final drive, etc.) If you are still within the warranty mileage maybe they can cover the tranny work under warranty.. Probably your synchros.. Dealer will charge you a fortune..

Acutech Autos in South San Francisco 650-871-7797.

I take my car there for anything I need done on it. The Owner (Niki Tam) and one of the service guys (RJ Reevs) both autocross in the SF Region (DSP). Very honest guys with great prices and they love racing.

Sounds like your on the Peninsula somewhere, but if you willing to come down to the South Bay, I take my car to Sunnyvale Acura. I found them to be good and very courteous.

To make a long story short, I had a problem with the battery draining too fast. They said it was the alternator, but the battery was still draining too fast. So they told me that my lights were causing a drain on the battery, so they fixed the wiring of the lights free of charge. Just to let you know, I have the JDM front end and the person that hooked up the electrical system of the lights didn't do a good job at it. The good thing was that they didn't blame the other shop for the problem, they just fixed it.

I thought Stevens Creek Acura was a good place to go, but after they put some dents in my RacingHart CP-035's, I never took my car to them ever again. They were dicks about taking the blame for it.

With the mileage and condition of your car, there is no doubt that tranny work should be covered. You shouldn't pay a penny. Don't let them bullshit you. Maybe you should try the other dealers mentioned. Damn dealers **** me off.
Good luck..

Thanks everyone for their quick reply!!!!!!! i have just made an appt at Los Gatos Acura. they were very very nice over the phone, and will provide me with a loaner car as well!! thanks again, and if they give me the run around i will be going to Acutech, they also seemed vey nice on the phone. but too bad there not a dealership, so that means i will have to pay for this, but hopefully Los Gatos will fix the problem first. thanks again all!!!!! i really appreciate it!!

Mike Harvey Acura...it's where I bought my current itr...great place, they replaced hecklervtec's clutch recently https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=214560

They are great guys, and if you have any issues I can put you in contact with someone who used to work as a salesman for them, but is now a sales manager for their Honda dealership...he's a turbo Type-R owner.

Are there any Bay Area Acura dealerships that are leniant(sp?) about warranty work? I got my R second hand from Marin and got a 100k warranty or 7 years whichever comes first.

I took my car to Oakland acura because my trunk latch wont open even without a key to turn it, they denied me saying it was because I took out the rear panel or something like that.

Santa Cruz Subaru hooks up their customers with warranty work even if they have race modifications, any Acura dealers like that?
