questions on mods for a d15b2
ok so we are new to hondas and racing in a class that requires the motor to be "stock" problem is most of these guys can afford to pay for a brand new engine that most likely has some less than legal mods done to it. so i nee your guys' help. need advise on stock swaps to do that will give me reasonable gains. IE intake from this or that motor, head from this motor, cam from another, chips, injectors that will work.........im open to any ideas, because i know the guys that inspect these motors will not know if "oh this intake came from a d16a6" so it has to be stock just not worried if it was stock to that engine......thanks in advance........please refrain from lecturing me about whether or not it is moral.

Does it have to stay DPFI? If so, then forget about it. To get any measurable power, you need to chip and tune the ecu, and nobody does that to dual point ECU's.
tbh im not sure, ill post the rules and let me know what you think
ENGINES: OEM stock 4-cyl or 3-cyl engines only. HORSEPOWER PLUS TOURQUE COMBINED MUST NOT BE GREATER THAN 280. (Factory Specs) Engines used me be 10 years old or older. Interchange of motors allowed within make & model only. No rotary motors. No RX7s. Carbureted or fuel injection. Exhaust must be directed under car. (NO MODIFICATIONS TO ENHANCE H.P., i.e. Computer chips)
FUEL SYSTEM: Pump gasoline only. Stock tanks in original position or one safety approved boat tank only (plastic or metal). Maximum fuel size is 25 liters (6.6 US gal). Fuel tank mounted as close to the rear firewall as possible in the trunk area. Trunk area must be closed off from driver's compartment. Tank to be held down with two one inch straps. Fuel line running through car must be steel; max. 3/8 inch. After market electric fuel pumps allowed. Must have a shut-off switch clearly marked within the drivers reach.

Sounds to me like you could run a JDM B16A. Came in the Japanese and European EF9. Same make and model, as far as those rules state. Other options would be the D16A6 from the EF Si. Or a ZC Vtec engine. The most important thing is to make sure you get a short ratio Si transmission!
that would be something for the long run possibly, im just looking to see if there are any small junkyard gains i could get without spending a ton of money or swapping the engine
I would just swap for MPFI or get a b8 head(has MPFI)
if weight doesnt matter strip the entire thing out(less weight more hp/weight and get all the hp you can)
advance the timing a bit on the dizzy and SLIGHTLY on the cam(one tooth or two) and it will the spark will go at the optimum time for more power, so long as emissions isnt an issue, too.
cheap performance plugs, people say only stick NGK plugs into hondas but those are basically OE use, upgrade em and the plug wires.
get a little bigger injectors(they probably wont pull them out and go oh hey these are (example) 450 CC injectors when this is supposed to only have 250 CC.
it should take a D15b2 from ~92-95hp up to around 120.
you might be able to adjust the valve lash JUST right so they open a little bit wider allowing for more air/fuel to come in and more exhaust to escape.

Ya so would a rebuild but that's not stopping people, so say I wanted to put on the b8 head, how involved/complicated is the wiring side of the mpfi swap? Would vehicle could I find the parts on? Also in regards to the d16 cam swap, I have read mixed reviews on this. Some say the cam is higher lift and others have said the specs on the cam are exactly the same. Anyone know for sure? Also what is a z6 cam out of? Sorry for all the questions like I said I'm a Honda noob
