94accordeex idle ticking issues
hey im new here first ofc i just bought a 94 accord ex w a f22b1 and have few issues unresolved first off i have a high idle during start up when motor has cooled down dosent matter if it warm or cold out and once its warmed up it idles real low around 500 rpm and shakes the inside car. also have a ticking noise ive noticed that is worse on cold start up but still ticks when warm its not super loud but loud enoufh to be hard from inside car w windows down. it seems to run fine no loss in powerbut sometimes during take off from dead stop it makes a sputter noise but no loss in powerall has mh mind boggled. im no mechanic but do know a few things. all info will be appreciated. oh by way it automatic and is bone stockminus its missing muffler which looks to have rusted ofc i did an oil change and nothin has changed. and tried some oil treTment that supposed to stop ticking but nothing worked. thanks to everyone and am glad to become part of this group
It could very likely be your issue, if not a supporting factor. Honda's have idle issues all the time, the chances that they are related are probably slim. May as well clean your IACV, FITV, and TB all at the same time.
Also to add to the advise already given, if you just got the car and not sure when the last tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, inspect wires) was done - might want to rule those out.
Next, for the "tick" - check the exhaust manifold where #1 and #2 cyl's come together for a crack.....or you could run a bit of seafoam thru an engine vac line and see if smoke comes out of the manifold or any other part of the exhaust system.

it does kinda sound like it might be comin from the exhaust manifold ill check and get back w u. as for the valve adjustment. i just called a mechanic he told me that the valves on these motors cant be adjusted something about it being overhead cam or somethin. is this true? he was suggesting i put another motor in it but this motor only has 108000 miles i doubt i need new motor the car is stock and never avused either

well i looked at exhaust manifold dont appear to have and cracks or anything now what are the possibilitys that it could be internal engine issues like a rod knockin or something? and what are some of the symptoms of a rod knocking?

Replace an 108k miles Accord motor.... Only if it has been completely neglected. To be honest @ that mileage the engine is just getting broken in.

As far as rod knock goes, there are no "symptoms" really. Other than a lot of noise coming from the bottom of the engine that gets louder under load. Over Head Cam Honda engines have a tendency to make noise as the valve clearances change over time. They are known to have somewhat noisy valve trains.
well i think i found my problem i tho.k i have a rod knocking u can hear it from underneath near oilpan. im thi.kin about tearin open the pan and accesing the damage and if my crank itsnt to messed up throw in a new bearing and drive it till tax return time when i can afford a swap. i have nevwr done this before but from what i hear its pretty simple. aby suggestions? and how long can i drive it once i replace bearing and what would cause the rod to knock. im assuming the perso. that sold me the car had put something in it to quiet it enough to sell it and once i changed the oil the noise was back.?
