Hey guys. on my b18c integra when i press in the clutch it makes a weird noise, like a fan coming on. then when release clutch the sound goes away. only happens sometimes tho

any ideas what it could be?

probably the throw out bearing failing

brand new exedy oem replacement clutch kit with a new bearing, disc and plate is like $100.

you can resurface your flywheel for $30 or buy an exedy or fidanza flywheel for $150-200

 

and it is in a type r tranny with lsd. does that make a difference?

or

u guys still think it is the throwout bearing or input shaft bearing ( ive been reading around )

really could be either or. more commonly the TB but you would have to start testing if you really wanted to try and id it. the biggest clue it's the TB is you saying it only does so when pushed in. that's when the TB is in contact with the pressure plate

you could remove the slave cylinder, start the engine and use a screwdriver to push the fork in slightly so the TB contacts while the engine is running. you should get a good audio signal of what's making noise by ear and by feel. if you feel grinding or a rough bearing in the fork you have just confirmed the TB
