my girls car its a 97 integra automatic all stock with 196k all of a sudden 2 days ago it left my girlfriend and daughter on the freeway she said she was doing about 65 n out of no where it shut off so so when I got there I checked it all out n tried startin it n it just kept cranking but no start I did notice the oil light and battery light on so after a few tries it started up fine n it drove fine.. then yesterday I turned it on and started driving n it did it to me it shut off out of and also it did it to me today 2 other times so I went and replaced the ignition cap and rotor I thought that was the problem but odviously its not that bc it shut off again like 2 hrs laters

ppl help me n tell me what the problem might be please the car idles fines andeverything only thing is that when it shuts off and I try to start it back up it chockes up n starts smoking out the intake idk what it can be so help me out please thanks Honda tech

O2 sensor? Is the check engine light on?

 

sounds like the ignitor is going bad. symptoms are usually the car flat out has no spark/no start when they fail.

as they start to fail heat will cause a loss of spark, the engine dying till the ignitor cools off a bit, then itll start and run till it heats up.

i replaced the cap and rotor today...how does the igniter looks?

on the side of the distributor, under the rotor on the side closest to the front of the car. its tucked inside and has a few wires plugged into it. its pretty small. no more than a half inch thick or so, and maybe 1.5-2in square

the one i had spare was no good so i havent touched that since but when i took it for a drive the ****** **** off on me and also the cel came on after now its giving me a p0108 code wich is for the map sensor could it posibly be that its gone bad but if so why i had no cel b4

it was a bad icm i replaced it now the car is goocie lol thanks yo all if u for the opinions.
