Ive got a 1997 Acura EL with a B18C5. Whenever I let out the clutch in first gear the car feels like it is shaking up and down until I get to 3500rpm and up. It is totally fine and drives smooth in the higher revs. It feels like the motor moves back and forth.

Would stiffer engine mounts help with this...

Also, sometimes I hear loud ticking from the engine but it is only when I engage vtec. If I drive the car normally without pushing it hard it doesnt tick as loud. Someone mentioned I might need a valve adjustment.

stiffer mounts can make the car vibrate more.. like you kinda mentioned.. i was thinking a valve adjustment too. especially if its never been done.

 

Maybe vibrate was the wrong word. It feels like the body moves higher then lower... almost like I am driving on an uneven road and then it seems to correct itself when I move up in the rpms.

 

wheel hop? got suspension?

 

I have got H&R springs with Tokico Blue shocks.
