1995 honda accord coolant leak
hi, so i have a 1995 honda lx 4 cyl, and it just started leaking coolant and i cant quite figure out where its leaking at. i can see it dripping under the car almost directly below where the battery is. i dont see any leaks coming from the hoses, so im starting to think its from the engine, but im not familiar with the system. any help is appreciated thanks in advance.
im sorry holmesnmanny i know my description maybe wasnt the best, haha, like i said im just not as familiar with the coolant systems, aside from the obvious radiator and lower and upper pipes, and its very hard to see down into the engine on the left side. after scouring online through diagrams im thinking it might be the themostat, im just not sure what else relating to the coolant system it could be there, any info on possibilities to at least help me narrow it down are awesome.
If it is dripping under the battery both the overflow and the radiator itself are right beside the battery. The thermostat is nowhere near the battery and it very seldom will leak considering it is encased in an aluminum housing.
Best thing to do would be to give your engine bay a good hot rinse and let it dry. Then start the car and with a flash light, watch under the hood for a leak. If nothing is noticeable right off, you should keep an eye on it each time you take the car for a drive.
There are 3 areas to watch in the bay, the radiator, the engine and the heater lines. The radiator is at the front of the bay, the engine in the center and the heater hoses are at the back goign into the cab through the firewall. Another area out of site would be the coolant tube that runs behind the engine below the intake manifold.
If you are having a hard time finding the leak based on your drip location you could take the under bumper shroud/cover off. This would allow more light into the bay. It will also ensure that the coolant drip that you are seeing isn't dripping from another area of the bay and running down the shroud.

The coolant hoses that go from that area of the block over to the firewall are for the cabin heater.
There are the A & B inlet hoses that you can see attached to that valve in your video. that is the heater control valve. This hose goes from the thermostat housing to the heater core/firewall. Hose A is the one on the engine side of the control valve. if your leak is coming from under the distributor area that would be the hose to look into.
The third hose under there is the water outlet hose. That goes from the heater core to the coolant pipe. It is located further under the intake manifold closer to the drivers side.
Inlet water hose A - 79721-SV4-000
Inlet water hose B - 79722-SV4-000
Outlet water hose - 79725-SV4-000
