Default DRIVE BELT AUTO TENSIONER

Does a 2002 civic lx have a drive belt tensioner? I know the 2002 Si does but I can't find this part for my car. I am having squealing issues and replaced the drive belt and thought the tensioner may be the culprit before moving on to the air conditioner.

There's no auto-tensioner. You've got two accessory belts:

Power Steering belt - tighten/loosen wingnut on top of Power Steering pump, and adjust tension.

Air Conditioning / Alternator belt - just below the Alternator there is an adjustment wingnut.

I can't thank you enough. I guess it is on to the ac clutch or compressor.

I just changed out my alternator and notice that when I hit the right or left turn limit, it screeches and the belt stops moving (not the pulley). I may just try and tighten the ps belt and see if that will work. It’s more pronounced when the vehicle is parked.

the ps belt is not tight enough, and there is more strain on the ps system when the car is not moving

Thanks man, I’ll definitely tighten the belt and see if that help.
