Default d16z6 idling at 2k

I'm kinda stumped on what to do now. my rpm will idle at 2k but the car wont sound like its idling there. I did do some research. I cleaned the ivac and it did stop my bogging like feel when starting from complete stop. but it's still idling at 2k... I sprayed water all around the motor, TB, and intake manifold and haven't found any leak... I just replaced my dizzy maybe 3 or 4 months ago... but it was a rebuild one from advance auto... so my next guess is changing out the dizzy. has anyone have this same issue? I have a d16z6. Thanks.

The car "won't sound like it's idling there"? What is that supposed to mean?

Have you followed FSM procedure for adjusting your idle speed?

maybe this will help, yesterday I could not adjust the idle on my 96 d16 for crap, I would give it gas then the rpm would drop down but skick like at 2k too.
my throttle cable was too tight, I loosened it so it had very little slack then I did the ignition timing and now its fine.

The TB isn't dirty. I pulled it out to check and checked the gasket. the cable i will double check on it to see if maybe its too tight... but yeah @jbpnoman it sounds like its properly idling at the normal limits 750 but shows on my rpm gauge that its at 2k.

Then it's probably your tach that's wrong, not your motor. What car is your Z6 in?

yeah it could be. I'll have to do some research on how to troubleshoot the tach because I'm not really sure how to on those... But I checked my throttle body cable and its where its suppose to be at. The motor is in a 94 EJ1 EX. Its the original motor for the car.

post a video of the idle.
or remove the air intake duct, and check if you can push the throttle plate down, if you push it down and the idle lowers....then maybe cable to tight.
just throwing ideas out there, not trying to preach it

Try and spray some more water over where the intake manifold meets the head. Might be as simple as needing a new manifold gasket

sorry i wasn't clear. I read that the throttle body cable should be a lil loose but not too tight or too loose... idk how to really explain it. but im gonna be posting a video shortly.

If you have a CEL you won't hit VTEC. SO scan for codes and see if you got any. It could be a simple cluster issue. And you can't really feel the VTAK in a D16Z6. I have the same car as you, 95, 5 speed, and you really can't feel the vtec, maybe hear it a little.

lol... yeah you right about feeling it but i should be able to hear it tho... I dont have any CEL codes popping up... I think I'm just gonna go ahead and get a whole new cluster and pray that it works.
