Default Gets hot at idle, cools when revved...etc

96 Civic EX Auto.

Recently replaced the thermostat, and radiator because the old radiator was corroded and leaking.

About 3 weeks ago or so, the car started to act as if there was more of a drag on the engine than normal (I know it's a d16y8) even with the a/c off. This morning while sitting and waiting for someone, the car started to go up in temp to about 3/4 before I noticed it. I revved the car and it came back down until it started to idle again, then of course it started to come back up.

If it sits at about 1k to 1200 rpm the temp is fine. I bought the car a little over a year ago, with the "word" of the seller (the plug wires have cylinder numbers taped to them, possibly holding this story as true) that the Timing belt and water pump was replaced at 140k miles (currently has 176k).

Any thoughts as to the issue? Possible new water pump/timing belt?

By the way, same car as the one from this recent issue.

Yea bleed the system, if you have no bleeder screw, run the car from a cold start with the radiator cap off till the car warms up then put the cap back on

Seems to have worked, quite a few bubbles came out of the radiator. Thanks. I'll chock the bogging issue to something I forgot about.....the muffler/catalytic converter. Already have them bought, just have to bring them to the exhaust shop to be installed, hopefully all goes well in that regard.

Thanks again, I should have tried that first but I thought these systems were self venting. Guess not
