Default what type of pads are oem

Hey guys I replaced my brake pads with napa organics. I am disappointed. Dust like mad, dont feel as sharp either. What types of brake pads are honda oem for my 04 civic vp. What do you guys recommend? Thank you everyone.

NAPA pads leave much to be desired, if I'm honest. I can understand the nature of your complaint.

Hawk HPS pads would REALLY put a smile on your face. Low dust, great coefficient of friction, and simply fantastic brake pads for the street. If you want a little more grip by sacrificing a small amount of additional brake dust, go with the HP+'s.

The HPS's produced less dust and better braking ability, when compared to the stock pads. And, to be fair, they don't cost THAT much more then stock.

I recently changed my front rotors and my pads with ceramic pads and my car brakes way better. I don't remember the brands, but they're the 1st quality at my local parts store.. Cost me peanuts too!

I have hawk hps pads and they create a lot of dust. I have to clean my wheels almost every week. I'd stick with oem pads if you aren't driving too aggressively. Less dust and cheaper too

You don't have HP+'s? Honestly, I hardly ever get dust unless I'm just finishing up a day at the track.

Honda front brake pads are semi metallic . Honda does not manufacture brake pads or rotors, they're an OEM product made under contract by whatever major manufacturers gives them the best price. The same is true of auto parts stores, but they don't give their house brands the same level of scrutiny that Honda does; parts stores change vendors if they get so many returns that the vendor raises their price the next time. )

The Honda pads brake well enough and are quiet, but they are very dirty when used on salted rust belt roads. I got so disgusted by the grime they created that fouled the slide, so I replaced mine when they were only half worn. After trying several major brands, I settled on Bosch replacement ceramic pads and rotors.

For my moderate driving style the Bosch ceramic are indistinguishable in performance from the Honda OEM semi-metallic but they produce much less dust that washes away and it's a light gray powder. The Honda rotors are uncoated. The fronts started rusting the second week I owned the cars. from the inside out, comletly filling the ventilation cavities, the rears rusted from the hub and edges. The rotors were a PITA to remove for service at 24 months because the retaining screws and the hub holes were rust bound. So I replaced them with coated. I haven't had any futher cleaning or servicing issues in 50K miles of salted road winters.
