Gates Timing Belts
Gates lists two timing belts for the F22B1, the T244 and the T244RB. The T244RB is listed as a high performance belt and sells for $106 from Rock Auto while the regular belt is $20. Is the T244RB worth the difference, or more to the point, what is the difference?
T422 is the OE replacement. It's a basic rubber and nylon fiber construction belt.
The RB or racing belt is constructed using different materials.
Now on to the question, is the RB worth the difference? It would be if you are running higher rpm, consistently running hotter engine temps and beating on the engine. Might be a good choice if you're not running a timing belt cover as well. Other than that I wouldn't bother spending the extra $86.

Thanks. That is what I thought might be the case. If it gave extended intervals between changes it might be worth the money. But since I don't have 400 hp or run 30 lbs of boost I guess I will go with the T244.
