I have a eg hatch 93. Last week it overheated. I believe it was the fan sensor that was messed up because it never started. So I made it so that the fan always turns on when I turn on the car. Also fixed the radiator hose and now my car isnt running as it should. Now when I accelerate it stops at 4, 000 rpm. It will not go past 4, 000 rpm and I dont know why. Any one have any ideas?

 

Jesus why do so many people do this. Why didn't you just replace the sensor or diagnose the real problem? Just guessing without knowing what kind of wire job you did its possible you car is never warming up so its staying in open Loop. Did you check for codes?

 

The problem is that when I first start and go it will run fine but only after it warms up can it not go past 4, 000 rpm.

 

The CEL should be on. Pull the code(s) and post them.

 

Im sorry to ask but how do you get codes off a obd1?
