ok, so i have only had the car for about a month and have been ironing other little issues out. i commute about 2 hours daily for work. and while cruising at highway speeds its great. there has been an issue becomming more and more common lately.

under moderate acceleration SOMETIMES it bucks and stumbles. sometimes worse than others. No CEL.

car is stock as far as the engine goes.

My thoughts initially were a fuel filter or plugs/wires, but its been happening more frequently and seems to only happen between 1-2k rpms.

does this point to TPS? although i THINK i'd get a tps code. how do i troubleshoot a problem like this?

 

Does the CEL work? If so, do a full ignition system tune up and replace the fuel filter.

 

cel DOES work as the car was having trouble with the distributer, ecu, etc with codes 4,8,&9.

would this tuneup kit be what all you suggested?

also, if it ends up being TPS, i have 2 other throttle bodies i could swap onto it.

i hope its cap, wires, or fuel filter.
on the way to work this morning i accelerated slowly and under very gentle acceleration there is no stutter, under "medium" acceleration there is a point in all gears between 1000-2000 that the missfire/stutter occurs.

 

distributor/ecu issue has been fixed as far as i know.

 

Inspect tps adjustment. Maybe faulty tps sensor or improper tps adjustment

 

tps has not removed or adjusted, original throttle body etc. no tps CEL.

 

o2 might be going out.

 

i thought about 02 as well. the symptoms are at a very SPECIFIC throttle/rpm.

my thoughts were in order of likelyhood
plug/wires/cap
fuel filter
TPS
o2

again though tps AND o2 would both throw a CEL right? i'll double check for any codes just to make sure though

 

OP, if the problem only happens when the engine is fully warmed up, then this^ is a possibility. To test, unplug the O2 sensor to see if the problem is eliminated.

 

i was trying to see If it did it when cold, but not entirely sure. IT DEFINITELY does it the worst after a good amount of driving and does it LESS after only driving around to the gym, and walmart etc.

most/less in terms of intensity of the shake and stutter. ^^^ but easy enough to unplug it

 

Update so i unplugged the o2 sensor and it had no effect on the stuttering. back to tuneup and/or other diagnostic procedure...

 

also, check light DOES work. came on when o2 was unplugged

recommend against local auto parts equipment? oem honda through that ebay link? its essentially majestic honda or some other similar establishment i assume.

APPEARS to have been the fuel filter i would have never thought, by the intensity of the stutter... and would have thought it would impact higher rpm more....

 

yes, so fyi anyone reading this later, the symptoms seemed too extreme for a fuel filter but i believe its fixed :D

 

I have the same problem but thought it was a blown head gasket because my car overheated several times prior to this studdering, kinda like a missfire. i replaced the headgasket and it kinda went away but its still there, i guess ill try the fuel filter and see what happens.
