Default 2000 ITR strange clutch/tranny slip/idle issue?

I have been experiencing some strange problems with my ITR lately, sometimes when I am cruising in 3rd gear around 20-30mph (2500-3500rpm) it starts to jerk randomly. It acts as if someone disengaged and engaged the clutch for like half a second or less causing the car to jerk awkwardly and it does it every few seconds unless I step on the gas pedal harder. Sometimes this happens when I am on the motorway going 70mph in 5th gear (around 4k rpm) but not as often. Whats strange about this is that if I shift into neutral when this problem occurs, my idle goes down and my car almost dies and then it kicks back up to 900rpm and back down. The car has 94k miles and could be running on the factory clutch but I am not sure. Any suggestions would be great, thanks everyone.

I wouldn't blame the clutch for this, your issue doesn't seem to be caused by the trans. It's difficult to make any educated guesses at this point, but you're best advised to start looking into ignition and fueling (plugs, distributor, fuel filter/pump, etc..). You can do easy things like visually inspecting thr spark plugs and testing fuel pressure.

mine was doing this and it was cure with a full tank of gas and fuel injector cleaner. I thought it was something of a big problem but it was cured for 6 bucks and a tank of gas.

When my primary O2 sensor went out I had the same symptoms, it was usually at 3rd gear only

Just something to consider
