B16a in a 97 EX, looking for some pointers
So a guy drops this car off at my shop, and drops off a B16A, a trans, a huge freezer bag full of bolts, and a bunch of miscellaneous parts and asks me to make his car run. He brought it to me because he knew of my previous Honda builds (all of which were D-series engines.) So I threw the engine in the bay for him, used his supplied wiring harness, and I'm now on to the part I have been dreading, figuring out what ECU to put in this thing. The car is obviously OBD2, but the engine and harness he supplied me all seems to be OBD1, although the harness plugs right into the P2E that is currently in his car. I would REALLY like to keep this thing OBD2 because in Pennsylvania, our E-test laws are kinda dumb. The only way I see me getting this thing running right is to run it on OBD1 and just tell him to keep the mileage under 5k a year to pass emissions. Any ideas? I know putting an old motor in a newer car seems a little stupid, but hey, the customer is always right. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
You can use a OBD2 harness with it and you need a OBD2B harness and a 99-00Si ECU.. And then if the distributor is OBD1 you have to convert it or cut the plugs and rewire everything... Otherwise it has to be OBD1... Using like a P28 Chipped with a basemap for a B16A. if he really wants to mod it though, OBD2 will totally suck for him as those ECU's are not tunable.

agreed^^ seems the easiest and quickest for what your wanting.
p30 from a 97 del sol vtec is obd2a (same as the car) then just mod the stock ex harness to fit (you have to extended a couple of wire's) will have to do the cfk sensor fix if the oil pump is obd1
If you loved me, you'd all sell me your magic cards to me today

You can run the OBD2A P30 from the Del sol, they are around $300 on ebay. or you can use a jumper harness to OBD2B and run a P2T.
First off, thank you guys for helpful advice. I have an OBD2 harness for this engine, and it plugs right up to the P2E that's in the car, but i know damn well that P2E isn't gonna run this engine right. Ill send him to look for a P30. Again thanks a ton guys.

NO NO NO. You can not use an OBD2B harness in an OBD2A car. get the harness that came with the car then find the thread by hondapartshero about swaps.

The thing is that either way its so pointless to run a Swap on OBD2 considering that you cannot do any mods to it at all lol...
