Default How to quickly boost performance?

I just got a 1988 Civic hatch. Its got a standard D15B3 in it. 5 speed manual. Everything is factory standard at the moment and i don't have enough money to do an engine swap right now. So as an alternative i'm looking for possible ways to fairly cheaply boost the performance of this car as it is until i can get enough cash for the real build.

There is no way to quickly boost performance , unless you buy a cheap or used nitrous kit and spray until you blow your motor. Theres a reason we spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to make these cars quick, if it were cheap to make a fast honda everyone would have one.

Save your money until you have enough cash for the real build.

You have a carburetor?

Sell the car, get something better.
Best performance investment you can do.

You could lose 20-30 lbs... And gut the car.

^^6 im with this guy i loved my 88 hatch. I believe they are the lighter ones too. But as far as that stock motor in there... there's no way to really boost performance unless you get intake, header and exhaust like they said.. even then its still gona be slow as ****. Its a terrible thing to have to hear but you really should save and get a good swap to start with. I hated hearing that from people when i first started out. I had a 4 dr and put a header, exhaust and intake and i thought it was soooo fast.. i took it to the strip and ran if i remember correctly was a 17.7 or so... ya so not really worth the mods
