y7 surges when driving
I just Bought a beater/daily driver. Its a 98 civic dx and it is not throwing any codes(at least not yet). When driving it starts to bog down then it will surge back up and bog down again. When it bogs it looses all power like it wants to die. The good thing is the seller told me of the issue and I got a good deal.
It does not do this all the time. In about 60 miles it has done it 2 times both times only lasting about 5-10 seconds. So far I have only cleaned off the maf sensor. Any suggestions on what to check first would be helpful.
Thanks,
Brent

also: there's no MAF sensor, it's MAP that's on the throttlebody
check the distributor rotor/cap? fuel filter clogged?
I noticed you said while driving and not at idle... but if it's at idle too check some of these links:

Its so intermittent that i have not noticed it at idle. It bogs down like its out of gas I have never had this issue with a normal surge. I would think if the filter were clogged that it would be more consistant. I suppose I will check both of those out just in case.
