EG Hi i currently got a apexi full exhasut piping to axle back 2 1/2 inch piping with a ws2 nori muffler.

my d16z6 has an intake/ ebay headder/ ebay resonator testpipe.
the exhast is a year old.

my consern is that the ebay resonator pipe looks like a regular catconverter but more flowing. the resonator ebay pipe in the middle between the headder and full apexi exhasut if i hit my hand on the ebay pipe it sounds like its going bad

like slight sand inside. thats really bad.

i don't want to it to get into my apexi exhasut system.


im looking to get test pipe without the resonator looking just a straight pipe test pipe.

will my exhaust sound better than the ebay resonator??

i need to change it asap.
will it sound cleaner louder?

I could be wrong but your Ebay resonator "test pipe" and a plain old test pipe sound like the same thing. Either way the car will be louder and will sound like crap.

 

Drop a glass pack in the exhaust and that will clean up the sound. You can get a decent one at a parts store for cheap then have someone weld exhaust flanges on and just bolt it in place.

 

^^ nooo lol. wouldnt a glass pack just make it louder?? the nasty fart can sound? test pipes r basically just cleaned out casing of the cat correct?? want a good quiet sound spend a lil money and get a good resonator. you have a good exhaust system. spend the money for the goods and keep good!

 

you're confusing your terms here....if you want a test pipe that doesn't have that "honey comb"(sound deadening) on the inside get an adjust able one from blackworks, PLM or skunk2 they're all adjustable also so don't worry about fit. it would be slightly louder then the resonator type test pipe

 

Naw, glasspacks are alright. i got a 6 inch diameter glasspack on my D16 civic. It has a deep throaty rumble at idle and roars with an earsplitting scream when you pop the vtec.

 

I guess until they blow out.

 

Blow out? How's that work?

 

they're packed with fiberglass that acts as the sound dampener. hence the name "glass pack". that packing will eventually deteriorate and come apart.

 

what will happen if i just put a straight pipe in the middle will it have better sounding and i let a shop weld flanges

 

it will be louder, a straight pipe to muffler at the end sounds like complete ***. you'd be better off with header>test pipe>resonator>straight pipe no muffler. like the buddy club spec 2

 

I guess you better try it and find out since your whole purpose is to achieve some level of sound quality because from a performance standpoint there is no real benefit.

No one knows what sound "good" to you.

 

And it is near impossible to tell you the sound or if you will like it on the forum. Go to a muffler shop willing to work with you and try a couple things. The only other way to get the sound you want is to mimic a buddy's car you like the sound of.
