Test Pipe: Megan Racing vs. eBay
Hi
I'm in the market for a resonated test pipe. I did a quick search online, and the only "big named company" that makes a resonated test pipe is Megan Racing, selling for about $75 shipped.
I brought my old resonated test pipe off eBay for about $25 shipped, but after a few months of using it, something happened to the resonated part of the pipe, causing it to rattle everytime I step on the gas at low RPM. Perhaps the material was very cheap and could not take the heat from the exhaust, or what not, but who knows...
I was thinking of trying the Megan brand test pipe, hoping that it'll be constructed better and won't rattle on me down the road. I know Megan is sorta a generic manufacture itself, so thats why I was wondering if you guys here thought there were any differences between Megan and a generic eBay part.
Both Megan and eBay say the test pipe is made out of T-304 stainless steel and they look identical:
Megan: http://www.mosaicmotorsports.com/meg...95-p-2470.html
eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1992-...Q5fCarQ5fParts
Before anyone asks, I don't want to get a Skunk2 test pipe. The reason is because Skunk2 only has a straight pipe, not resonated. I already have a straight pipe on my car now, and it makes the exhaust sound raspy.
Thanks for the opinions!

to be honest i bet the megan one will fall apart in a few months time, best bet would be to get a high flow cat, "Magnaflow/Carsound/Custom Smsp" friendly to the enviorment and just as free flowing and emissions friendly. Carsound/magnaflow are the same deal and not expensive

Megan Racing is not a bad company they just make more parts for Nissan but since were talking about it i dont think you should waste your money on either get the password JDM one its stainless steel so it wont rust and you will get years of use out of it.

i have a megan racing exhaust on my rsx. one day coming out of the bank i see something hanging underneath my car. i look and an exhaust hanger literally ripped off the muffler. IMO they are just as bad as every other mass produced crap company out there who dont put enough into quality and design

thanks for the suggestions, but i'm looking for a RESONATED test pipe design, not a straight through one. i already have a straight through design and it sounds raspy at certain points of the RPM band.

what you really want is HIGH FLOW CAT. as stated above but you chose to ignore. you will not have the bee orgy noise and if it reallllllly bothers you buy a seperate resonator and have it welded in. then neither will fall apart or rattle on you for a good while.
megan racing isn't bad but id be willing to bet either of those will fall apart in a year tops.
