93 Engine differences between EX and LX, ECU change?
Well I have a 93 Accord 10th Anniversay which is pretty much an LX with more features. Anyways, I was wondering if there was any way to unlock the extra 15hp from the engine since they capped it on the LX versions and down for 125hp opposed to the EX's 140hp. ECU change? or something? Any help would be appreciated...and if I have to engine swap, might as well go with the H22A as many of you have done. Btw, hi, new to the boards
i thought the difference was that the lx had an 4-1 header and the ex have a 4-2-1 header. lmk if i'm wrong but i think that is the only engine difference.
Really? I guess I was told different then.......hm.

its the 4-2-1 headers as well as a larger intake manifold with 8 ports as opposed to only 4 on the LX. EX manifolds do fit the LX and will add 15 hp like the EX has.

Not trying to hijack, but why would you even replace an EX header?
I realize its ugly, but its a pretty good design.. esp when you consider whatever you replace it with will most likely just be a 1 7/8-2" collector too. (whatever is stock i forget).

Because the stocker is so fuggin heavy, the aftermarket is prettier, and maybe a little better flowing. Plus, when its free, kinda hard to say no.
what is the difference between the 90-93 2.2 lx and ex models?
i know the ex has 140 hp and the lx has 125 hp, is it only the header
and exhaust ports? will i make up that difference with an aftermarket
ex header?

intakes, exhaust and header will only gain you about 10-15 total Hp max if your lucky and well dynoed and tuned. Does dont compare to the Vtec engine that the Ex has in it. Plus with the Ex you could still go with the bolt on's

I askd the EXACT SAME question like maybe 6 months ago.... it might be under the archerived files too...

Well, sorta. Its a dual runner into manifold. Sorta like a pre-VTEC econo power adder.

what do you mean "8 ports?" I think i know what your taking about but it does't make any sense to me right now...
...........i'll IM wont be beat
the EX/SE's had a dual runner intake... good for a couple ponies.
you know what a runner is right? its the .. tube on the intake manifold that goes to the head... F22A4 and F22A6 the car has 2 for each CYL. No head changes.. just intake manifold. if you took off the upper intake manifold plenum you'd notice 2 rows of 4 pipes (runner openings).
