EP3 5 Lug Brake Upgrade to RSX-S Brakes
Hello folks,
I'm currently eyeing a 04 EP3, and I am wondering how much work (and $$) is required to upgrade the car's front brakes to RSX-S specs. I've driven a few EP3's before, but found that the stock brakes are a little lacking.
I've done a bunch of searches on the forum, and I am reasonably certain that this can be done relatively easily. But I can't seem to find a complete break down of the parts I'll need to upgrade, so here is my question:
Since the 04 EP3 already has the 5 lug hub, I guess I would only need the following?
- RSX-S front rotor
- RSX-S front calipers
- RSX-S front pads (from whichever manufacturer)
Does the master and/or slave brake cylinder need to be upgraded as well? Would I need to worry about the brake proportioning, or would ABS take care of that?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You won't see any additional clamping force just from upgrading the calipers/rotors alone. If you want Type S braking, upgrade the master cylinder (has larger piston size) and the proportioning valve must be upgraded also.
Thank you. This is precisely the answer I am looking for.
With the similarities between the EP3 and DC5, I suppose the master cylinder and proportioning valve would be a plug and play affair, right?
