Default LC-1 With Red DB Gauge Install Help!

Okay so i have read every single stinking write up I can find on the internet as well as Innovate's manual like 3,742 times and i still cant get this to work right with what I've got. I have also read and searched all over and it seems like everyone has an easy fix that didnt work for me or no fix at all!

Okay Like it says above, i have the DB gauge from Innovate as well as the LC-1. I bought them used from a guy who said it worked in his car (i got it for $30 from him cuz he was hurting pretty bad for money, he was gonna put it in his S14). I have everything except the push button and LED, I also dont have the datalogging box thingy.

I just want to use the gauge as a reading for daily driving and occasionally racing, i will do all my tuning and data logging on the dyno so i have no use for the datalogging box nor do i wish to wire this into my ECU.

I have ran all the power wires together and all the ground wires together and connected them to either the negative or the positive of a car battery just to see if everything works. I bought a brand new O2 sensor just to be safe.

My problem is that i cant get the O2 sensor to heat and my gauge keeps flashing 7.4 constantly. Shouldnt i be able to just apply 12v to the system for 10-15 seconds without the O2 plugged in, then unplug the 12v source, then plug in the O2 sensor and apply 12v again for 10-15 seconds and then attach the Calibration wire to the ground for 3-5 seconds and it would begin calibrating? I do all of this and still get a cold O2 sensor and a flashing red 7.4 on the gauge...

Anyone know how to fix this or maybe why it is doing what it is? Do i actually HAVE TO wire everything to the ECU and such to get it to work for just a test or calibration?

Recap:
1. DB gauge is flashing 7.4 constantly (which i understand is a common issue).
2. O2 sensor wont heat up.
3. Do I NEED the LED and push button for calibration? (I have heard people just touching the calibration wire to a ground and that worked fine for them).

Also if someone has this all wired up in their car with a VERY detailed install thread or something, that would be awesome! So far this: (http://www.lukekailburn.com/lc1.html) is the best one I have found.

Please someone help me out here, I really would like to get this thing working as soon as possible!

If you read the directions right, you need the push button and led light. It says right on the instructions what you need the push button for.

Ok after hours of rewiring and testing, I called Innovate. They said I had everything installed right and didnt know why it wasnt working. I decided to take the lambda controller apart. I found all kinds of corrosion and rust where it looks like it got wet. So long story short, I ordered a brand new one. It shouldnt give me any issues.
