"dude i just got a Dell"
Seriously just bought myself a dell laptop. Just the basics though. If I want to play games I'll use my pc or get a xbox or ps2. Its just 40 bucks a month. I plan on getting the hondata for my project and playing around with the datalog function.

If you're thinking of buying a laptop for games as well, definitely get something as fast w/good video.

Look for at least a Geforce2/4 2Go, or Radeon 7500. Better yet would be a
Radeon 9000.

Dells are rock solid as are Compaq laptops. Don't buy HPs (flimsy). Alienware
for all out power.

If i were to purchase a laptop I would go with the SONY. Dell laptops have alot of problems not very reliable, dell desktops are good though

Do you guys realize that alot of Standalones wont work with Windows? and many freak out with a processor any faster than like 300mhz.

For tuning, you want like 300mhz, DOS\Windows 98

I believe he is looking for a laptop for his Hondata, which uses Windows, and benefits from having a faster laptop and Windows 2k/XP. But good info to know for people getting other standalones...

Like mentioned above, that might be the case for some of the older standalones. Hondata works fairly well on older notebooks (I've used something as slow as a Pentium 133). You really need something fast for AEM though, it's a huge resource hog.
