My ls jumped timing apparently I have no idea how it was driving and pulling fine... Let it sit for two days drove for about 4 miles then started miss firing as I got on the throttle... I've dealt with alot of things with Hondas I'm between beginner and intermediate level with them... Can somebody please tell me what I'm looking at here lol... Supposed to have my friend re-time it Sunday morning should I start there ? THANKS HT!

 

id say pull the head and check for damage (like bent valves) or try a compression test after you ran it with the timing off.

also while in there you might as well replace the timing belt and tensioner

 

So you really don't know whether the timing belt slipped, right?

Are any CEL codes thrown?

To check the mechanical timing:

Remove the valve cover and upper timing belt cover, and then turn crank pulley bolt ONLY counterclockwise until the cam pulleys are set at TDC1. If you can't set them perfectly at TDC1, then the engine did jump time. If you can, then check whether the crank pulley is also positioned perfectly at TDC1.

If so, install new timing belt and then compression test the cylinders. Good luck.

 

The belt: What shape is it in? Check the entire thing for damage and at this point it is suspect, change it anyway.

Mileage on the belt? Last tensioner change?

When you line it all back up, use a socket on the crank bolt (pull the spark plugs) and gently roll it CCW for 2 turns to see if anything hits. If it is all good, compression test, if you don't have a dead jug, throw the plugs in and try to start it.
