94 Gsr High Mileage stock Turboing Questions
My Gsr has 173,000 miles and I've been really wondering if it is still capable of being turbo with stock internals and pushing close to 300hp or more.
*I've read on some of the other threads that before even considering putting a on a turbo you should do cylinder leakage test, and compression test thats all that I know of?
*The car was well maintained before I owned it. One owner for 19 years and took to the dealership for every maintenance and on schedule.
*Also another question I have is what sites have good turbo kits between $800-$1000.
*I read on a thread that a 2.5inch exhaust is a good enough for a boost application that isn't outrageous. I have had trouble finding decent sounding exhaust. So if you guys could throw some brands and prices at me that would be appreciated.
*Last question how much psi would be needed to push 300hp on stock internals?
Thanks very much!

you have alot to research and learn my friend! first off for that kind of budget you ain't going to go no where near 300whp and I'm assuming you mean whp when you said

dammit click on the wrong bottom lolz anyway for that budget in mind your not going to get a very good quality turbo kit plus your still missing out on the other essential fuel pump, bigger injector, a tuning software, ect. i would say 3000 at the very least to get you somewhere.
and the question on psi to get the number your looking for, well it all depend on the turbo size and trim your going to get.

I dont know about there but here we get used turbos and injectors from from EVOs.
Maybe you can find a used Holset turbo for a good price.Cast iron manifolds are super cheap too.
Get a cheap intercooler from the Marketplace or from ebay.
From there you will need injectors-chiped ecu to tune and some minor parts.
For 1000$ it wont work.
Maybe 1500+$ if you find cheap used parts.
Also compression test is a must.

Stock ls bottom 180,000 miles for lsv. Makes 412 on e85 lol
Being a tuner, I get parts and stuff dirty cheap... safe budget is 1500. $1000 if u know what u r doing. That's for a shitty ebay kit that WILL SMOKE EVENTUALLY

Thanks for the input, I threw out that $1000 dollar budget because I really didn't know prices of kits. I don't really have an exact budget set yet on how much I want to spend. Just trying to figure out pricing.

That's going to be the trick. Honestly, I'd look at the FAQs and some similar builds to what you're looking for. That way you'll be more precise in figuring out what you need and a budget accordingly.

If compression and leak down numbers are healthy you *should* be ok but honestly it's a crap shoot
Does anyone know the kind of fabrication work to get the mega power r skunk2 exhaust to fit in a 94 gsr? If so what do you have to do?
Thanks
Thanks
Hmm.. fabwork. resource to purchase quality T304 Stainless steel, a 3" 2-bolt exhaust gasket (Vibrant part number 1458, possibly) and a 2 bolt weld flange (possibly vibrant #1473), and go to town
OR
Make it easier and just wack the flange of the Exhaust off and weld the downpipe to it.. lots of options here.
Thanks, and also, If any of you were to choose between Buddy Club spec III and Skunk2 Megapower R for sound, which one would it be?
If it were a pre-made exhaust, I'd use the GReddy Ti-C. If its going to be 3" premade exhaust, I'd use a Thermal Research & Development..
If I were to have it made myself, (which I did) I'd use Vibrant T304 Stainless steel to either a 3" WSII muffler, Apexi N1 muffler, or GReddy Racing sport 80mm Muffler.
All sound MUCH better than most iv'e seen without the need for all the resonators and such.
PM me, and I'll send you a vid clip of what I mean.
