What are your intentions with the motor? Boost?....All motor?....

9.9:1 comp is pretty low...of coarse it's safe, Its a pretty low/mild dome.

D15 rods suck by the way. Brittle little twigs.

With D15 rods? Not a smart idea.

Maybe you want to mention all these things before asking a question that cannot be answered accurately when this information is lacking.

I run D15 rods (oems) for a mild build D15B7, I have been cautioned numerous times not to exceed 8000rpm, 12:1 compression, or boost while running them.

Boosting opens a whole nother chapter to what you should be doing to that motor - if you want it to live. There are some decent build threads for all motor SOHC D motors - and it might give you plenty of go that lasts, for less $$

my goal is about 200whp and i kno d15 rods have limits that arise quickly when boost is added into the equation. i want to go forged internals but from other research on the forum i have found out that the market for the d15 is very limited if existent at all. i dont mind spending the money to do it right i just want it reliable at the end of the day

If you already know your options are limited, what is the point of the question? You have Crower and I think someone mentioned CX Racing had offered these for a while.

What does that have to do with you thinking you're going to use aftermarket rods with stock pistons? And what setups did you look at where this has been done? Or why you're trying to push such high compression on a turbo build? It can be done with a precise tune but you don't seem to be at that point to pull it off.

d16a6 block with a z6 head was all i could find with that piston set-up, my goal is not high compression but getting ahead of myself i did no look into every detail as i should've i have looked into turbo builds and the ones i have seen start with ~ 9.** cr so now looking into other more rational combinations the 134.5 cx rods with Pm6 pistons would yield a cr of ~9.21 with 0.03mm deck clearance. At this point I'm not sure any modifications are necessary

Again. Where did you read that aftermarket rods are even compatible with stock/OEM pistons? As far as I know they aren't.

They would be compatible if the wrist pin diameter was the same. But just like they're saying why would you want to do that anyway. Save your money and go aftermarket on both, especially if you're going to boost.

Stock pistons are press in are they not? Where aftermarket uses a floating wrist pin. Am I mistaken?

No, you are correct. Most aftermarket rods are designed to use floating wrist pins that are held in place by clips in the pistons. OEM pins are pressed in the rods and the OEM pistons don't have clips in the pistons. Stock pistons can be machined for clips but there goes the budget. So, again go aftermarket on both. Sorry for the slight confusion Grumble and OP.

there's no such thing as acl rods. the common rods used in d series were fjt.

Suggestions....

Get a block that has more aftermarket support. I dont see the benefit of building a 1.5 liter anyways. Even boosted ones arent that great. Well from what ive seen on youtube.

people are telling you a d15 is a poor choice but you are not taking advice. Why even post on here.
