Im back , after a 8 year hiatus from the H scene, whats changed ?
So ive been pretty much out of honda scene now since 2005 or 2006. But ive been sucked back into the addiction after buying a 89 CRX DX automatic daily driver. I would like to hear some opinions from other fellow OG Honda guys.
What are the big changes that have happened in this community since 2005/2006 ??
have I really missed much of anything ?
From what I can tell is :
a. K series swaps are a little more popular
b. the ls vtec and b20 vtec are no longer considered frankenstein and or unreliable motors
c. the fast and furious fad has died down in favor for more clean mods and restorations.
d. there is 10,000% more bad information out there than there was previously
e. B series swap is old hat, and so is turbo
f. Kids these days dont know how to do a swap without hacking the **** out of the wiring and getting CEL. Now, the saying "the CEL is from the swap" is acceptable.
g. J series swaps are avail, but no one is doing them
h. OEM CRX parts are alot more expensive than they were in 05, especially floormats
i. No longer is a shitty bottle of NOS used for quick easy HP, you kids just turbo everything and anything.
j. As the years go on I see less and less unpainted bodykits, bookshelf wings, and horrible vinyl graphics. This was the downfall of my generation of honda tuners, alot of ricers would throw a body kit on a car, not paint it, put a fart can on and drive around like they're bad ***.
k. I THINK some of you finally realize you have better control of the car if your seats are NOT at a 30 degree angle and your leaning up holding your weight off the steering wheel. It never looked cool , EVER.
l. Its no longer "not cool" to own a late 80's early 90's Honda. In my day if your first car was a EF civic its because someone gave it to you, not because you bought it or thought it could ever be fast.
M. no one uses FMU's anymore
So what else have I missed ? Can some of you new Honda kids fill me in on the last 8 years ?
Heres a picture of me in 1999 with my first car, a bone stock 90 Civic Sedan automatic. after that I got a 92 accord EX (this car was pimp around the turn of the century), then a 99 GSR, then a 88 CRX HF, then got addicted to herion and flushed my 11 second CRX dreams down the toilet. Spent about $9,000 on that 88 CRX Hf and drove it ONCE. Long story, some of you may remember the Flamenco Black pearl CRX hf I was building in my sig. Had a benson GSR block, sleeved. The build thread is still here:

and Below is my current car, the one that is responsible for getting me back into this money pit of a hobby

sticker bombs, hella flush, idiots (oh wait, they've always been there). The only thing I have seen change is the fact we (who have been here for awhile) are getting older and prefer the clean modifying, oem spec parts.
Welcome back
Welcome back
What is a shaved bay ?? I must have missed that. Is that where you just take a wire tuck to the next level and tuck the prop valve and fuel filter ??
running wheels that are way to offset/wide and stretching the **** outta tires to "make them fit" is teh cooliest now. stickers still add 5hp too btw. and it's no longer unpainted body kits, it's unpainted jdm front ends. JDM without paint > usdm with paint.
i don't get any of it, but apparently many others do
great looking crx man, look at those rust free quarters! lol. hard to find such a thing here in iowa.

Stuck with a crx as a DD is not how I would put it. I love my little CRX . Its fun to drive , good gas mileage , handles great , and is reliable. Not sure what else I could ask for.
As for what went wrong ?? Lol I wasted the last 6 or 7 years being addicted to hard drugs
