How long can u guys "avoid using" VTEC

Default How long can u guys "avoid using" VTEC

As topic...
Just curious The longest for me is around 140km

everday as i pull out the driveway, i tell myself, "try not to pucnh it today" and as soon as i hit the freeway onramp, there i go, straight to redline

It is called winter. I avoid it all winter long which can last up to 5 months

November thru March -- when it's in storage. Otherwise about 5 minutes.

It's easier to do now that I've replaced the Mugen ECU with the stock one!

and even then i'm holding it around 4k at stoplights. "god #()*&$ it hurry it and warm up already"

Around town im not really revving up that high, but on ramps to the freeway get me everytime. Its like imbedded in my mind that i must rake through 3 gears when merging.

The longest was when i was breaking the car in the first 1000 miles (exactly, the second that baby hit 1001 i was at 8k )

It's not good to go too long without engaging the big lobes.

The oil passages related to VTEC operation in (i.e. locking the rocker arms together) can become clogged and require disassembly and cleaning.

Use it or lose it.
