A couple of short questions about wiring for my swap...
1. Can I convert DPFI to MPFI on my interior harness without pulling the whole dashboard out?
2. Do I even need a DIZZY plug?
Any help would be appreciated...

i am assuming you are putting a gsr b18c motor into a 90 civic?

If so you can use your stock engine harness to convert from dpfi to mpfi. So yes to that.

Do you want to eliminate the dizzy plug from the harness? Lets start by giving the year of the motor, then we will know if it is obd1 or obd2.

 

Yes... I am putting a '94 OBD I B18C motor into my '90 Civic Std HB... I am just going to use the original GSR engine harness but will I still need to convert on the interior harness? (Without pulling my whole dashboard out?). And I was wondering if a whole new distributor came with a DIZZY plug or would I still have to buy a new one?

 

The engine harness is completely separated from the dash wiring.

 

Not a good idea at all. Convert from DPFI to MPFI and then get a OBD0 to OBD1 jumper harness and call it a day. It will come out clean if you take the SIMPLE effort to solder and wrap the handful of connections.
You are asking for a wiring nightmare. No, it's not possible to achieve this without pulling your dash out. You will not find any write up's on the internet for this wiring job simply because it is not even worth the time nor effort (sadly, I speak from experience - I did this once before ECU jumper harnesses were commonly available). The OBD0 plugs that come from the dash through the firewall do not all come out at the same location that you need for the OBD1 engine harness.
Use the plug that works with the distributor plug. just match the wires properly.

 

Why is using the OEM GSR wiring harness a bad idea? It'll plug directly into my P28 ECU... will it? But I already have an OBD 0 - 1 jumper harness... will it all be a plug n play if I go this way? If not... Ill just do it ur way... which ever is quicker...

 

because the harness terminates at the shock tower. It's not like a 96-00 civic where it's 1 harness all the way to the ecu.

 

What if I use a '94 Si Harness?

Ok... so what harness could I use besides mine?

 

You'll either need to swap the engine and dash harness from an Si model (88-91 but to be safe stick to the same model year to be closer) or convert your dpfi harness to mpfi (plenty of write ups) or call rywire to get them to make you up a plug and play harness using your harness as a core. It is possible to convert to OBD1 harness but will be a compete wiring nightmare as you would need the dash and engine harness to convert.
