A/C troubleshoot
Ok so I've been reading on a couple threads trying do do some research on this before going ahead and posting a thread myself, but I think I'll still go ahead an post, just to be on the safe side.
The car is the Mrs.' 94 Civic DX. When we bought it the AC wasn't working, the lady we bought it from said that it used to work and then all of the sudden just stopped... that was a while back and now I'm wanting to resurrect the AC back into working but it's not wanting to cooperate with me. When I inspected the system I found the the short thin pipe that runs from the condensor to the AC fan was broken... bought a used one, replaced it. Hoping that was all that was wrong today I started doing some leaks/pressure tests with my cousin (he's the one that has the equipment). Everything seemed fine. When we were going to charge the system with the Freon we noticed the compressor wasn't kicking in. I confirmed that there was no + juice getting to it. We tested it just jumping the current to make sure the compressor itself was working... IT WAS!! found another problem in the long pipe (the one that runs like behind the fans from side to side), also had a crack, so I bought that one (haven't replaced it).
Now... the piping and leaks don't concern me much (that's easier to fix). What does concern me most is the compressor not getting any juice. I was looking for the AC wiring diagram to try and locate what comes from where, couldn't find it. I was reading on another thread and if I understood correctly the low pressure switch prevents the compressor from kicking in when it detects low levels on the freon, can it be that all I need to do is charge the system and once it detects the correct pressure it will send the juice to the compressor and work? I don't really want to start testing and cheking cable and relays and stuff if it turns out that it's just not working because there's no Freon in it. Any tips will be appreciated!!
THX!

BTW... I'd appreciate some guidance as to where the low and high pressure switches are on the 94 Civics.... I spotted one right next to the AC fan where the short pipe comes in from the condenser, but not sure which one that is and not sure where to find the other one.
first, you're in the wrong forum..this forum is for accords...be that as it may the high side should be near the compressor on the driver side...the low side should be near the radiator..the fittings are different
you should only have one pressure switch...the one you seem to have already found
