so i have a 96 civic ex and its making kind of a grinding noise that changes whenever i step on the clutch and was overheating when i reved it high and it recently got a water leak from the driver side possibly water pump any suggestions?

 

Possibly a bad clutch throw out bearing.

Low coolant, coolant leak, bad thermostat or radiator, air in the cooling system?

If coolant is leaking from the weep holes in the water pump, replace it.
