1998 civic idles, but floods out. Help!
i have a stock 98 civic w/ the D15y7 motor.
Recently I went to drive it and it would not start; like it wasn't getting fuel. Right before this happened, it was running fine.
- I put in a new fuel pump in last night, it started and idled. I let it run for about ten minutes just to make sure there was no air in the fuel line. I tried to drive it, but every time i give it gas, it seems to flood out and die.
I also put in a new fuel filter hoping the old one was just gummed up. This did not help. It still seems to flood out.
My check engine light has been on since I got the car (O2 sensor). I will get it re-checked for codes tonight and hopefully it will pop up with something to point me in the right direction.
Does anyone have an idea of what would cause this, what seems to-be, flooding??
The idle is fine. It only dies when i give it gas. I can slowly ease into the gas (it sputters a little) to rev it up. But when i give it gas as if i was trying to drive it, it dies out completely.
Once the car dies, i have to turn the key a couple times to shoot more fuel so it will fire. Once it starts, the fuel flow stays steady for a good idle.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks
