So, here it is. I've got my 02 RSX S in the shop with a spun bearing, and a (probably) wrecked rod. No idea how it happened, but it did. The mechanic tore it down, and diagnosed it. I'm getting quoted about $2000-$2500 to repair the car, which I expected, but that's if he takes the engine apart, remans everything, and reinstalls. However, I'm wondering if it may be cheaper just to remove the engine and install a used K20A2 short block? Thoughts?
How many hours of labor (per the shop manual) is an engine removal and replacement? Any mechanics want to weigh in on what they'd do?
Thanks!

Ah, I'm just going to sell the car as soon as its repaired. I would rather just keep it stock. This is my 100,000mi "never drive it" car. Not my track *****.

Crank isn't dog chow yet, but it'll need a bit of work. We aren't sure about the rod, but we are assuming it'll need replaced.
I'd rather just fine a used engine and swap it in there.
Once you spin a bearing the fix is not fun. Or find a block like you said bot work.

At the very least, you are better off getting a new short block, and if you do, the 2.4L bottom end would be a great deal

I'm selling it as is. I'm done worried about repairs. I'm just too busy to deal with it. $4500obo. Clean title in hand. Maybe trade for an older Honda is good shape and a few grand cash.
Meh.

If you're gonna sell it, find a short block. You'll still need to clean out the car for metal shavings. Happened to me once. And if you keep the car, sure! rebuild the entire thing.
