Default D16Y7 -> Y8 manifold swap: throttle cable.

I've read up on several of these swaps on the 'net, and many (actually, all that I have found) of these write-ups claim the Y8 throttle cable is more "responsive" than a Y7 cable. Why is this case? Both the Y7 and Y8 throttle cables on EJ Civics share the exact same part #. What accounts for greater throttle response with same throttle cable?

2K DX throttle cable: 17910-S01-G03
2K EX throttle cable: 17910-S01-G03

It's this great thing called the butt dyno. Also, if they're replacing their old, worn out cable with a new OEM cable, of course it'll have better response. Those cables stretch over time.

I have a 2k civic lx with this swap, and i kept my throttle cable because i could not find an ex cable..works perfectly fine lol. I hear the ek ex throttle cables are shorter? I said fudge it, and went along with it! Do it

They aren't shorter. They're the exact same part number.

Oh yes they are.

No they're not.

The Y7 has an extra long throttle cable to reach around to the weird straight up throttlebody, Y8 is a more normal length.

Then can you explain and/or clarify the OP?

From how I look at it under my hood, the Y7 TB sits dead center, whereas the Y8 TB sits further towards the passenger side of the car, which would logically be further away from the grommet hole the cable comes through in the firewall.

your part numbers are wrong.

dx:
17910-S01-G03
ex:
17910-S01-A02

I know both cables are indeed different. I have owned both cars. the dx cable is longer, as it loops around the front of the car.

Dnt the dx ex TC make a nice bend before the arc goes even near the valve cover? I know the dx makes a pretty wide turn..
