I have a 93 Honda del sol that has been converted to r134a. The car has a brand new evaporator core, expansion valve, condenser, and drier. Lines and compressor are used.

We pulled a vacuum on the system and it held at -29psi for 30minutes. So we then proceeded to fill the car. After starting the car and letting it run for 10mins the low side pressure was at 50psi and the high side I believe right around 175psi. It blew cool but not cold. So we decided to let a little out and low side was at 47psi and High side was about the same as the first time. It did blow a little cooler but when driving it was still not cold.

I decided to let a little more out and so low side is at 43psi at idle but it still doesn't feel super cold. Outside temp was 80-85 on all of this. The compressor is kicking on and off just fine, the line is sweating and getting cold. Is there something I'm missing or are these numbers really far off?

 

You need to add the exact weight of refrigerant specified for your system. Then performance test the system by measuring the high and low side pressures, as well as the air discharge temp as described in the service manual. The performance test results will aid in diagnosing the problem.

Did you flush the system prior to evacuation and recharging?
