Baby on the way ! Big problem !
I have no rear seats in my EG hatch
. I have looked and looked and cant seem to find rear seats at all for my hatch on craigslist or ebay .
I currently have only one idea :
http://www.corsportusa.com/store/cat...s/DSCF0287.JPG
rear seat delete and
one of these maybe actually mounted to the flat area in back , maybe fab some holes in the removable center wood area and then i could pull a seat belt up through it to make it work ?
http://www.walmart.com/ip/16617605?w...308550&veh=sem
Basically i would be installing a rear delete to make it flat in back and then mounting the flat base to the back area and pulling center seat belt through the delete to secure the baby car seat base even better .
Anyone else think this could work or got a better idea ?

see i could secure this right in middle with the original middle seat belt that way the base never moves and is pulled tight to flat rear seat delete . the rear seat base mounts look like many are made to be on a flat surface

Stop, pardon my French, ******* around with with a kids life. I put rear seats back in my car because I have to take care of a 4 year old nephew. I wouldn't even consider anything you're talking about.
Just called my local police department and they said this :
"The child must be secured in the child restraint and the child restraint must be properly secured to the vehicle."
The child restraint sytems have been put in two seat pickups with a flat area in back of driver and passenger seats .

ok anyways i wouldnt ever put my kid in danger trust me they will go in the wifes grand am if this even budges a bit but im still putting the kit in my eg and will look into a hefty mount to test it on . i might get a bigger seat to try and mount in first and put my buddys 15 year old in it and take him for a spin hitting brakes and corners . if his 130 lbs *** dont budge then i may beef it up and put the smaller seat in for short rides of highways and stuff like rides to park .
until then ill still be on the search for seats as well since the delete kit can come right out

I have a base strapped in the back seat of my type r swapped ek........she will probably never ride in it until she is old enough to ride up front sitting her butt on the seat. You should just buy a 1300 dollar eg on craigslist haha the baby hauler
You folks are being dramatic, having a seat anchored to the car is just as safe as having it sitting on top of a f'n seat, have you people never removed your back seats? The dangerous part is owning and driving a 2000lb 90s civic missing the 40 airbags found on a new car anyway.
tice in the.pic the rear seat delete, your idea would sit on the removable access areas making it not work. If you were to fasten a permanently fixed area to the frame in the back im sure it would work, and probably be tighter since it wouldnt be impeded by the seats.

Rig up **** if you want. Unless you are supremely confident in your own handiwork, I'd rather be that much safer by running it the way it came from the factory. Maybe the seats are PART of the way the safety restraint system was/is supposed to work? Something to consider.
Can't find rear seats? Not looking hard enough. ^^People seem to be parting out cars all the time. Check the Marketplace? WTB ad? Junkyard?

Driving can kill you, period. Don't over dramatize either.

I have the delete on the way , but i will still be wanting to find seats to put in the back since the delete can come out in 20-30 mins of work .
I talked to the company that is going to make the delete for me and they said they can customize the delete so there is no access to the fuel pump making it totally flat in that middle seat area with no access spot . Also instead of making the delete out of half inch ultra light mdf they are going to make it out of solid mdf that is 3 quarter inch thick . On top of the stronger materials they are also going to cut a piece of 10 gauge steel plating to go on top or bottom of delete that covers the whole top/bottom surface .
When delete comes and i install it i will add in two by fours horizontally down the middle of the delete attaching and reinforcing the left and right sides so there is absolutely no play . My mother is a carpenter and has volunteered to come down and over look the framing when we get started on the project to see if there is anymore we could add to reinforce it . I think she was talking about seeing if we could use hurricane clips in the install to totally stiffen things up as well .
We shall see how it turns out, i am very confident we will be able to have multiple people in back of car and tons of weight without so much as a budge or shift with delete . Like instrument said the restraint system itself is already safety compliant and met all standards . I have two ways of using it in my car . A : with a latching system or B: with original seat belts ( Whether seat is there or not ) or maybe a combo of latching system and cars seat belts going through click n go base .

^^^^What part of that is so hard to get?!
Put the damn car back the way Honda designed it or don't put a child in it. Your choice.
I guaran-damn-tee you, it's gonna be a HELL of a lot cheaper than all the therapy you'll need if your mods inadvertently cause your child's death.
A better idea would be to get a more practical car. You've got to put your priorities in order. It's not that what you have in mind would be unsafe, it's just the stigma of bolting your child to the floor. Imagine your conversation with every cop that pulls you over. You're going to have to explain to everyone why you don't have a back seat, and how your setup is safe.
I can't imagine your wife is happy about your plan. Do yourself a favor and do what is best for everyone involved.

man i guess there just isnt explaining this is there lol .
If The seat and base were put in a normal hatch with seats would sit on a piece of cushion that is literally held in with some **** thats a tad thicker than a hanger . What makes that any more susceptible to failure in a accident ?
It does not matter if the base that the car seat CLICKS into is put into a vehicle with a flat surface or a seat . I called the graco and they explained to me that because normal seats scoop like a bucket many have to tilt the seat system a certain degree with pool floaties to make the seat level because the base mount is meant to be put on a flat surface . I can also use the latching system in conjunction with the seat belt by installing a latching system into the hatch like this :

All you guys keep seeing in your heads is a accident were my delete is breaking or coming loose . What makes the delete any more breakable then a piece of 3 inch thick cushion under the seat ?
It does not matter if there is a seat under the base with a seatbelt going through it or if there is a flat surface with THE SEAT BELT still going through it GAWD.

You could also retrofit a latching system this way if you really wanted to but his method scares me a bit with the hole drilling ( im sure its a steel car prob ) :

Ok, so you have the bottom of the back seat "figured out". What about the back? Not to be a dick, but I would hate to be your child. Put a back seat back in. I stripped my ej1, then had a kid. I didn't buy a new car, I put the interior back in.
Um NO! maybe because the automakers have done crash tests and R&D on this, and don't forget the DOT APPROVED seat belts.
What makes you think your idea is better than their "cheap cushion and hangers"?
