Hello everybody my name is Fernando and I wanted to know if anyone has had the same problem as me? I have a 95 Honda civic coupe. The problem that I'm having is that I turn my car on it stays on but when I give it gas it turns off and sometimes it will start and die on its own can any of you guys help me thanks I would really appreciate it thank you very much

 

sounds like your igniter is going out. does it only do it when you give it gas or will it randomly cut out ?

 

Thanks for responding. When I turn the car on it will stay on for like 2 minutes and as soon as I give it gas it shuts off and after that happens the car turns on again but dies right away

 

so only when given gas ? what were to happen if you just let it idle(not touching the gas...fine ?. this is either a fuel or ign system issue

Mechanical timing off?

 

Well if I don't step on the gas it stays on for more but it dies also and theirs no check engine light on either

 

Does the CEL work and have you checked the mechanical timing?

 

Yeah the check engine light does work because when I'm going to start the car the light turns on then turns off like it has to and no I haven't checked the timing on it yet I'm going to try that hopefully it fixes it thanks
