Default brand new precision turbo leaking oil from downpipe?????

just put in my new recision turbo and right when i started it up it was leaking from downpipe and blowing white smoke... before this i had 2 ebay turbos and they did the same exact thing but i thought they were just cheap and kept blwing seals. but its still doing it with my precision??? the drain line has no kinks.... for oi pressure im running about 15 at idle warm. is that good? and i keep heariing mixed anwsers with rinning a restricor right now im running a 0.60. could anybody help he out i am lost. and after the ebay turbos i was running it without the turbo and ran fine with no oil leaks. so its not valve seals.

Where in the pan is the drain? What size drain? What size feed? You should be running a 3an or 4an with the appropriate sized restrictor. I run a 4an with .0065 restrictor on my 6266 works great

Could also be valve stem seals if this problem has persisted across numerous turbo swaps

Also, new turbos are generally coated in a protective layer, especially the turbine side to prevent rust. On first start up some smoke is normal, as it's burning contaminates off the housings and residual oil in the turbo. If the turbo sat with unpressurized oil in the chra it will seep past the seals a bit, as the seals only stop oil once under pressure

And as stated we need to see the complete oil return, fittings used, line diameter, pan bung location, etc.

restrictor + at least 10AN sized drain with no kinks, no 90 degree angles etc. and is only gravitating DOWN.

I've seen some **** were people think the oil pan will "suck up" the oil drain.. and it was like a U turn...

Also, excess crankcase pressure can actually force oil up the return, causing oil to seep past the seals. It will also turn the dipstick into a javelin... as the pressure will find any way to escape

My oil cap keeps blowing off so could excess crankcase pressure be causing it?

how is the oil cap blowing off when it is screwed closed.

that would be some extreme crank case pressure

Lol it's a stock z6 but the way my catch can is setup there is no breather so it just keeps building pressure and can't go any where right?

Catch cans need a vent or a vacuum to work otherwise crankcase pressure has no where to go..

Are you sure you don't mean the dip stick. The oil cap is screwed on. As for your oil catch can system, you need a breather on it because it sounds like you have a closed system.

what precision turbo are you running? a journal bearing turbo does not need a restrictor..only ball bearing units do, and the ones from precision come with the correct restrictor already installed, if this has happined to 3 diff. turbos i am betting its either you running a restrictor or maybe your feed line is kinked or has an internal blockage

Journal bearing turbos require restrictors based off of the oil pressure your motor produces..

And we've already asked him those things.... we already figured out why he's having the issue

Precision always says a lot of things about a lot of things

Reasons why I will never use a precision product on anything I own or build

I've seen units randomly fail and when precision "tears them down" they say oil contamination 9/10 times

This on cars with feed line inline oil filters, restrictors and even pre turbo oil coolers
