2000 Civic EX: Turns over but won't start after head gasket and timing belt replaced
2000 Civic EX
D16Y8
Just got the car back together after changing the head gasket and timing belt.
The engine turns over but will not crank. The fuel pump is working and fuel filter is new. I cracked open the banjo fitting right before the injectors to confirm good fuel pressure. After reading my manual I realized I put the distributor back on 180 degrees off. Yes, I know the grooves are offset to prevent this but I didn't know that and in my late night frustration I forced it in. I took the distributor off and flipped it over. It fired and tried to start for a second then died. I have the the spark plugs out right now to dry. They are wet from flooding the engine.
I'm about to go put the spark plugs back in and try again. Is there anything else I need to look at before trying again?
