2006 Honda Civic Problem
My 2006 honda civic's catalytic converter got clogged up and need to be replaced along with the O2 sensors. One shop estimated that it'll cost me around $1400 to repair this. $780 for the new cat converter from Honda, $150 for the upstream O2 sensor, $130 for the downstream O2 sensor and $350 for labor.
What i'm wondering is if theres any other cheaper alternatives to buying the converter from honda. I can't seem to find any because all the ones that fit my car are only legal in 49 states and I live in California ):.
The car has really slow acceleration and I was told not to drive the car or risk engine damage. I wanna get this problem fixed soon. Any advice is appreciated and welcomed!
Could I use a used cat converter from another 06 civic? Like from civics that are parted out.

$1,400 is steep. If you're mechanically inclined you can save yourself some money by doing the job yourself. There's non-Honda parts out there for a fraction of the cost with the same functionality. I did a quick search for a 2006 cat and found this:

It's approved for use in California and is less than half the cost of the OEM part.
