switched auto trans to standard?
My son changed the auto trans on his 99 Civic to a standard. The speedometer on the auto had 2 wires, the standard one has 4 wires on the plug. Any one know which wires to connect on the 4 wire plug to the 2 wire plug. Or maybe have a wiring diagram I could check. I can't seem to find one for the trans speedometer. Thanks....
Yea, id like to know what plug you are also talking about. i did the swap, only wiring that needs to be done is the clutch interlock switch, cruise control(if you have it) and reverse. The cluster has the same plugs for auto or manual, only plug that wont get used is the green connector for the shift indicator lights..but include pics please
The 2 wire plug on the trans is for the backup light switch. Both the automatic and the manual have a three wire VSS for the speedometer.
3wire speedometer power, ground , signal.
And then backup light 2 wire turns into a ground for the lights.
I don't know of a 4 wire plug beside the o2 sensor.
Thanks for the reply's. I'm only going with what he told me. I will have to get him to recheck it. Thanks.........He just got back to me, my fault, he has a 99 Accord, not a Civic. Sorry.........
