is it legal to replace the del sol rear window with lexan or plexiglass.

I want to lighten it up and get rid of the defroster lines( they are pretty useless in tha car)

 

Federally, no, but that's only because they haven't been registered with and tested by the DOT. Would an inspector call you on it? Probably not, but check your local laws, or just keep your OEM rear window and take your car to get it inspected. Worst case scenario, they fail you, and you put the original one back on.

And let's be honest, if the feds are detaining you and your car, you have more important things to worry about than if your rear window is legal.

Also, if anything ever happens and someone in your car gets bashed over the head with a piece of Lexan, be ready for your insurance to bend you over and forget the lube

 

Hahaha yup. Really though is it worth the hassle for xx weight saving?

 

If you aren't actively tracking the car, I would say no. If you are actively tracking the car, I would say talk to the governing body to make sure it wouldn't put you in a different class.

You can lose more weight by removing the rear and passenger seats before going to the track.

 

Just throwing this in in here jb, but sols don't have rear seats.

Why would you want to replace the rear glass window anyways?

 

defroster is broken and jdm rear glass is expensive.

 

I guess your Del Sol HAS TO HAVE JDM parts. Does it have JDM motor oil and gasoline too? J/W.......

 

wtf bro cant you read? i dont want defroster lines and the only window that dont have them is jdm del sol otherwise its lexan....
