CRX front calipers: SI vs DX
What are the differences between the SI & DX calipers? I know from what I have read here they use different-eared pads, but besides that? They seem to be interchangeable but looks are deceiving.
I need new calipers for my DX and can't find them at reasonable prices. I have a new set of SI ones by happenstance.....

pads are not interchangeable.
the piston on the Si is just a tad larger, and caliper is overall a bit stiffer. pad surface area is a bit larger. not much difference really. but no, you cant just put DX pads in.
but nothing's stopping an idiot with a grinder from fitting a square peg in a round hole. im sure you can make it work, but why....

I know that pads don't fit...... and I just bought some new ceramic pads last fall...Grrr. [The calipers have pads included but hardly premium ones....]
It looks like the SI pads wipe further inward on the rotors than the DX ones. So they are dragging a bit. But as I learned with the ceramic pads, the rotors soon clean up that new area.
With bigger pistons, I'll have more pedal travel....

yeah to be clear, 88-89 SI front brakes are 100% the same as DX brakes. it was only 90-91 Si that had different brakes including rear disc.
i assumed the 90-91 Si difference was the topic of discussion.

Here's a question. Why can't I find ceramic pads for the SI calipers when I have them for the other ones?

So RockAuto will swap out the 16CL13VN calipers for OHIO CALIPER 313435, which are labeled:
F Caliper Set w/Pads 1500,HF w/CASTING #V (2HEX); Base Mode
So the 64 megabit question is: do 1991 CRX DX & HF's use the same front calipers? I can't see any casting # on my old correction very old calipers....
And thus would my PGD273C pads fit the 313435's?
