94 EX OBD1 CEL Issue
Hey guys, I'm pretty keen when it comes to working on cars but there are some issues as there is with anything we do that we may not fully understand. Here's my dilemma: My CEL will only come on while the car is running and does not allow for the OBD1 check (paperclip jump across the two wire plug) bc the code is not stored and does not allow for me to determine what the code is coming on for to resolve the issue. So, my question is, can I jump the wire with the car running to determine what the CEL is coming on for? I'm just curious bc I know these Honda's can be finicky with the computers. Any advice will help, thanks!
yes you can jump while its running, either way if its not storing the code, that itself makes me feel something is wrong. you can typically retrieve the code's that have been thrown even after the cel is off after repair until you reset it.
Yea, I know most case scenarios the CEL stores codes, especially if they're considered a hard code. Just was unsure if the computer would be a lil weirded out by jumping it while running. Thanks guys! I shall check the code with it running.
