Warped head &/or Bent Head Studs.
Need some help; Setup; Sleeved 84mm B18c block, new Cometic Head Gasket, Custom ARP Head Studs(said to be good for 60psi out of good turbo) and a Gsr Head.
I built the entire thing myself and probably F'ed it up...
After behing plagued with electrical issues, I finaly had everything electric stable.
Was "Sync'ing the Timing" aka Cranking the engine over and right when I had it right were I wanted it(about 10sec Cranking), !!SPLASH!! oil comes popping out of the head from the dizzy side. It definatly appears to be coming from the new 84mm Cometic Head Gasket. I'm pretty sure I Torqued everything perfectly (about 80ftlbs) with my Brownline Torque Wrench.
What do you guys think before I completely tare this head off?
I think I know exactly what could have caused this? I'm under the gun with this damn Car. So I want some opinions first. I really don't want everyone going "yeap, yeap thats what caused it"
Thanks

More likely you got a ls/b20 gasket and the oil is coming from the oil galley from the vtec oiling hole.for the cyl head which ls does not have. Or the gaskets on upside down. Those are the most simple issues. Either way its gotta be torn down.
Did you verify the gasket you have and that it is installed right side up?
Yes I checked over the new gasket when all the **** was in my room. It's the correct gasket and 95% insalled it correct. The mark on the gasket said UP and none of the 4 rivets were touching the decking surfaces.
I have most of the stuff tore away from the motor and I cleaned up the oil that splashed out. I'm going to do a compression test and try to see exactly were the oil is coming from. Then i'll probably fully tare down.
Do you guys think the Taps down in the block could bend? The threads down in the Block were fine(Taps for Head Stud). I don't know the geometry of how the Block is tapped for the Head Studs or its durablility? Think this area of the Block could bend? You can see the small bend in the Compressor Housing inlet.

Yup the Head Gasket sure as **** is on upside down

Either way it goes on it should clear the Valves I would think. Should I be worried about bent Valvetrain?? If the gasket was hanging in front of them and I cranked it I would image that be sufficient to bend the valves. FMMFL

I did the same thing when I was putting arp headstuds and an Apexi headgasket in my turbo mr2. At the time of installing the gasket and head, I was arguing with my girlfriend and I found out as soon as I tried to put oil in the engine. If any of you have worked on turbo mr2's, you know it is no bueno to pull the head. I was pretty bummed. A couple seconds of not paying attention cost me hours of labor. lol.
Got it flipped and put back togather. This is why I love Hondas there like lego's. I may be trying for a startup soon as tomorrow knock on wood I don't run into anymore time consuming snags. I'v been lucky so far with all the crap I'v gone through.
So I did install so it said UP on the head lol... Whats funny is when I got the head off I look at UP and I had it already circled with a Sharpie so I wouldn't mess lol. Live and learn....
