ok granted i havent driven stick in a couple years, but its like riding a bike, he said it had been sitting a couple weeks, it started right up idle was a tad...off? and the inside tread was worn on both sides, when i put it in reverse to back out i put the clutch to the floor gave her some gas eased off but i felt nothing in my foot,i stalled so smooth it surprised me, (later realized it was so much play in the pedal that i could bounce it back and forth with my finger) im no mechanic, or a stick shift expert, but i dont remember reverse being so weak, and hard to find...and CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG but when you put that clutch to the floor shouldnt it NOT stall.... or disengages it right? anyway i like the car jus wondering if anybody has a clue as to what that might mean, and could it be something simple? its a 93 ex coupe...thanks and sorry if this post is misplaced

 

That was a bit hard to understand. Have you tried bleeding the clutch yet? Try that first. Or are you talking about the throttle cable that has slack?

it wasnt mine, it was like reverse had no feeling to it, the pedal had to go all the way to the floor, on the way back up it was like the pedal didnt have anything to grab. i never experienced this, thanks

By 'the pedal not having anything to grab' do you mean the gas pedal feels loose and you can press it down for quite some time before it has some tension and accelerates?
If so, that's the throttle cable coming loose/ripping.
And if it's the clutch pedal with the same problem then it could be low on fluid, clutch master cylinder takes brake fluid, you may have an issue with clutch hydraulic line or clutch master cylinder.

 

No, the car should not stall w/the clutch to the floor.

As far as reverse goes, my manual-swapped D16 can be tough to get into R. It requires some effort, and going from 1st or 3rd can help it ease into gear.

 

Civics have really soft clutch compared to other cars. People who have driven my car asked if the clutch was broken because they feel very little effort in pushing it to the floor. First time users would always stall the engine when the clutch eventually engage. Anyway , you shouldn't have too much play in the pedal. Adjust the pedal height to oem specs. If you still have problems, check your master and slave cylinder.
