Default Correct VSS replacement.

My speedometer is not working and I know these vehicles have issues with the VSS so I plan to replace the part as well as check the fuses and connectors.

My question is this, I went to RockAuto.com to order the replacement sensor and they have two types listed for my car: (1996 EX Sedan)

1) BECK/ARNLEY Part # 0905059 - Manual Trans; CX Model; DX Model; EX Model; HX Model; LX Model; W/O ND

2) BECK/ARNLEY Part # 0905054 - Manual Trans; CX Model; DX Model; EX Model; HX Model; LX Model; W/ ND

I searched but couldn't find what the ND meant? Or, should I go with the more expensive Airtex replacement?

I tired replacing it with one already, twice. Most I find are automatic, and the few manual ones I find are either gone or non-functional.

Is the CEL on? There should be a CEL if the VSS is malfunctioning.

And a malfunctioning speedo won't set off a CEL.

No CEL. The speedo just doesn't work. It will occasionally for brief moments then doesn't. By brief I mean 10-30 seconds on a 10 minute journey. It does this with different gauge clusters as well as with a different VSS. I fear I may have an electrical demom hiding in my car but, I want to go ahead and change out the VSS with a known good unit before I whip out the voltmeter.

Word, I'll try good ol' eBay. Which fuse? I'm assuming it's the one for the gauge cluster #15.

Plug that name into Google. You will see it is a brand/company.

Lol, I said I am new to Hondas. :p Apparently they make many parts, but, alternators were at the top of the list. Is that what determines which VSS to get?

Yup, I think the only feature this car doesn't have is cruise control. It has everything else.

Moon roof
ABS
Air conditioning
Power steering
Power windows
Power locks
Power mirrors
